Modhumoti Bank Probationary Officer Job Exam Question Solution 2017: MODHUMOTI BANK LIMITED PROBATIONARY OFFICER RECRUITMENT EXAM 2017

WRITTEN MATHS
*** A B C started a job which they can complete in 2 days. B can do the job in 5 days and C can do it in 4 days. After working for 1 day, both B and C left. How long would it take for A to complete the rest of the job?
Ans:
A, B, and C can do the job in 2 days.
So, in 1 day, they completed = 1/2 of the job.

B can do in 1 day = 1/5 of the job
C can do in 1 day = 1/4 of the job
so, A can do in 1 day = 1/2 – 1/5 – 1/4 = (10-4-5)/20 = 1/20 of the job.

So, to do the rest of the job, A will take = (1/2)/(1/20) days or 10 days.

Ans: 10 days.

**** A man’s running speed is 3 times of his walking speed. He runs a distance and comes back by walking. Total time taken by him is 2 hours. What is the distance in miles if he runs 9 miles per hour?

Ans:  Suppose,
the distance is = x miles.

running at 9 miles per hour, he takes x/9 hours to cover a distance of x miles.

as his running speed is 3 times of his walking speed, his walking speed = 9/3 mph = 3 mph

walking at 3 miles per hour, he takes x/3 hours to cover a distance of x miles.

according to the question:
x/9 + x/3 = 2
(x+3x)/9 = 2
4x = 18
x = 18/4 = 4.5

Ans: 4.5 miles

****** A shirt was sold at 6% profit. If the purchase price was 4% less and the selling price was Tk. 4 more, the profit would be 12.5%. What was the purchase price of the shirt?
Ans:
Suppose,
the purchase price of the shirt was = Tk. x.
at 6% profit, the selling price of the shirt was = Tk 1.06x

according to the question:
(1.06x+4 – 0.96x) = 0.96x × 12.5%
=> 0.1x + 4 = 0.96x × 12.5/100
=> 0.1x + 4 = 0.96x × 1/8
=> 0.1x + 4 = 0.12x
=> 0.02x = 4
=> x = 4/0.02 = 400/2 = 200

Answer: Tk. 200.

***********Solution of the equation: 1/(2x-5) + 1/(2x-11) = 1/(2x-7) + 1/(2x-9)
Ans;
1/(2x-5) + 1/(2x-11) = 1/(2x-7) + 1/(2x-9)

=> 1/(2x-5) – 1/(2x-9) = 1/(2x-7) – 1/(2x-11)

=> (2x-9-2x+5)/(2x-5)(2x-9) = (2x-11-2x+7)/(2x-7)(2x-11)

=> -4/(4x²-28x+45) = -4/(4x²-36x+77)

=> 4x² – 28x + 45 = 4x² – 36x + 77

= 36x-28x = 77-45

=> 8x = 32

=> x = 4

Answer: x = 4.
